MIRIAM ANDERSÉN

Swedish-born singer and harpist, Miriam Andersén studied singing, medieval harp, medieval notation and performance practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland. She is an expert on Swedish traditional music and its medieval roots but her repertoire also includes lute songs, baroque arias and more modern names like Eric Satie, John Cage, Steve Reich and Sven-Erik Werner. In addition to her own ensembles – Belladonna and The Early Folk Band – she performs with Sarband and Theatre of Voices. She holds the honorary title riksspelman for her excellent cow-horn playing and has won several music awards, including a Grammy in 2010.
