BILLY MAG FHLOINN is a member of Umha Aois, an experimental collective of archaeologists and artists who investigate the metalworking techniques and technologies of prehistoric Europe. The group have reconstructed a number of Bronze Age and Iron Age instruments, both cast and beaten from sheet metal. Billy also plays in the Clare Memory Orchestra, a unique musical ensemble that combines traditional Irish Music with classical and other genres. Since Ireland lacks a folk tradition of brass instruments, the orchestra draws on those from the ancient past, and new music has been composed to bring their voice to life once again.
