Vol. 4. Pindar’s 12th Pythian Ode

Volume 4 is an experiment constructing new music for an ode by Pindar. It celebrates the victory of Midas of Acragas in the panhellenic aulos contest at Delphi, 490 BCE. The new music respects the rhythms and pitch contours of Pindar’s words, exploring how the Aristides scales might be used in practice.

Volume in preparation. An earlier version of the score and a BBC Radio 3 recording are available here.
